A panel discussion hosted by the National Association of College and University Health Officials is set for Thursday night in Washington, D.C., where they are expected to unveil their recommendations on how to improve access to community colleges, according to the news outlet.
The panel includes representatives from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, the Department of Health and Human Services, and the Office of the Inspector General.
The recommendations are part of a larger effort to help the nation’s community colleges reach more students.
The college system has been struggling financially as the federal government struggles to keep up with a growing demand for higher education.
The nation’s largest community colleges and universities, which enroll approximately 12 million students, have struggled to keep pace with rising costs and enroll fewer students each year, according the New York Times.
